ITs INSTED
ITsINSTED is a network organisation that is dedicated to improve the international position of young theatre makers. ITsINSTED connects young directors, playwrights, scenographers, mime actors, choreographers and dramaturges from different countries, and it is a platform that offers (new) international exchanges, co-operative ventures and opportunities to get a foothold in the (international) professional working field.
By organising meetings between ITsINSTED members and professionals of the theatre industry it builds bridges between creators of the future and the establishment. The contacts that are made during the meetings and festivals are often lead to a lasting artistic exchange.
Founded in 2006 by a student of De Theaterschool in Amsterdam, the network has now grown to 700 members. Since 2011 the organizations of ITs Festival Amsterdam and INSTED form a strategic alliance.
The aims of ITsINSTED
ITsINSTED promotes the exchange of knowledge and experiences of young theatre students in the Netherlands and Europe. It wants to maintain its position as an international network and expand this.
1. Inspiration
A director is in charge of a creative process. During this process the young director stands alone. ITsINSTED is convinced that it is important for young directors and creatives to share the experience and visions in their role as creator and leader and continue to develop this skill. ITsINSTED strongly believes that thinking together and talk about theatre and the process of creation is important for the development of young theatre makers.
2. Making contact
As its core business ITsINSTED establishes meetings between members with different cultural backgrounds. By doing so, the exchange between the young makers of theatre can take place. ITsINSTED also focuses on strengthening intercultural relations within the European theatre industry.
3. Involvement
ITsINSTED is about involvement. The organization exists by the virtue of involvement of the young international makers in each other's work and process. ITsINSTED is also about the sharing of problems and the discoveries, during the creation process of a theatrical encounter.
ITsINSTED facilitates and organizes various activities for its members. The core team always participates in all activities. The organization of ITsINSTED consists of students of theatre directing, dramaturgy and theatre production. This way the activities can directly connect to the needs and questions of the young theatre maker.
